What I do

I am an anti-diet, body-inclusive nutrition professional. This means that I do not prescribe weight loss for my clients. Instead, I help you work towards your goals without restrictive eating patterns or a focus on body weight or shape. I help you discover ways to nourish yourself to cultivate both physical and emotional health. Challenges with food and body are naturally intertwined, and I will work alongside you to overcome obstacles encountered in both areas. I will invite you to explore how eating patterns and beliefs might be detracting from other areas of your life. I will empower you to incorporate nutrition in a way that feels intuitive and sustainable in order to live a full, meaningful life.

What to expect

You can expect that sessions with me will be individualized and collaborative - you are in the driver’s seat! You are the only one that has lived in your body, meaning that you have invaluable experience and wisdom about your own needs. Come with your questions, challenges and goals and we will create a game plan together. Sessions with me are warm and casual. I try to bring levity and laughter into the (virtual) room - but you get to be the judge of my jokes.

Anti-Diet

I provide nutrition education without an underlying intent to produce weight loss or body changes. I want to help you open up possibilities with food versus reducing or restricting what you eat. I believe that life is way too short to obsess over what we put in our mouths.

Weight Inclusive & Fat Positive

You can expect shame-free nutrition care for bodies of all sizes and shapes. AND I will always validate and hold space for the desire to change your body in a society teeming with weight stigma and anti-fatness.

Please note that I use the word fat as a neutral descriptor, as used by the fat activist community.

What are appointments like?

  • Intro Call - 15 Minutes

    A free phone call to get to know one another and decide if my services are a good fit for you. It can be very vulnerable to talk about food & body topics, so it’s important to feel comfortable with your dietitian. There is no pressure to move forward if it doesn’t feel like a good fit. Come with any questions you have!

  • Initial Assessment - 80 Minutes

    There is a lot to know when it comes to someones food and body story! We will meet for an extended session via video chat so that you can bring me up to speed. I might ask you about eating patterns, thoughts and beliefs about food, body image concerns, any relevant medical history, and your goals for nutrition counseling.

  • Follow-Up Sessions - 50 Minutes

    This is where the real work happens! With the foundation laid in our initial assessment, we will meet via video chat to continue exploring your relationship with food and body and work towards your goals with these topics. Frequency and number of follow-up sessions will vary on an individual basis.
